MENSTON campaigners are celebrating a victory s councillors went against planning officer recommendations by rejecting a 137-home development in the village.
Bradford Council's Regulatory and Appeals Committee deferred its decision in October on a full planning application to build the homes on land at Bingley Road.
It agreed to wait for an independent report on flooding and drainage in Menston, commissioned by Menston Action Group (MAG).
An outline plan for the development was previously approved by the Council.
Bradford Council officers had recommended the Committee should approve the full plans today but councillors voted against it five to one.
MAG spokesman Steve Ellams, said: "The MAG followers present at City Hall were delighted."
The group is waiting to hear if a full judicial review is to proceed over already approved plans for another large housing development in the village, at Derry Hill.
