AGEING lamp posts on an Ilkley street are expected to be replaced if councillors give the go-ahead for £60,000 of work today.
The replacement of ‘non-compliant’ street lighting columns on Grove Road, as well as Keighley’s West Lane, is recommended by Bradford Council officers for approval at today’s Keighley Area Committee meeting.
Bradford Council has been checking the safety of and making a start in replacing these lamp posts since 2006.
Now officers have ranked the replacement of the lighting columns on Grove Road as a high priority.
More schemes to replace lamp posts on other streets in Ilkley and Addingham have also been suggested.
The costs for the various proposed schemes are now being calculated.
A £57,000 scheme on Main Street, Addingham, a £15,000 scheme for Skipton Road in Addingham, and spending of £54,000 on Leeds Road in Ilkley are among other work projects which are currently under consideration by Bradford Council.
