SCOUTS and Guides in Otley are again helping spread festive cheer by running their own postal service.
This year’s Christmas Card Delivery scheme, Otley Parish Church Scouts and Guides Parents’ Association’s annual fundraiser, runs until noon on December 20.
Residents are invited to buy special 25p stamps for the service – which is limited to Otley itself, and uses its own stamps and post boxes – from any of a large number of shops and businesses around town.
More than 10,000 cards were delivered last year and the association is hoping to top that figure this time.
The proceeds will help cover the running costs of the Scouts and Guides base on Burras Lane.
The participating outlets include: Lloyds Chemists, Kirkgate; Patels (Weston General Stores, Weston Drive); Help the Aged, Boroughgate; Londis, Weston Lane; Petwise, Orchard Gate; Dodgshons, Manor Square; Wrenbeck Stores, Wrenbeck Drive; Cottage Stores, Newall Carr Road; and Westbourne Convenience Stores, Bradford Road.
