A HAUNTING photograph of First World War soldiers at Guiseley station has been viewed by more than 20,000 people from around the globe.
The picture, showing the platform packed with young men setting off for war, has provoked a remarkable amount of interest since it was placed on Aireborough Historical Society’s Facebook page.
Society archivist Carlo Harrison said the picture was viewed by 15,840 people within less than 24 hours of being posted at 8am on Sunday morning.
By Tuesday morning that figure had risen to 20,072. More than 180 of those sharing the photo and text live in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
“I think for a local historic society that’s an awesome number,” Carlo said.
