TRANSPORT secretary Patrick McLoughlin visited Apperley Bridge to see the progress being made on the new railway station.
Mr McLoughlin met with Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew during his visit to the site of the station, which is due to be functioning by next August as part of a £16 million spend on improving local rail services.
The Apperley Bridge station will cost £8 million and will be served by two trains every hour.
During his visit, Mr McLoughlin revealed that part of the scheme would include an increase in rolling stock to match the expected future demand.
Mr Andrew said: “I was thrilled to see how well the site is coming along and I am certain that it will make a real difference to our local transport infrastructure.”
