ADDINGHAM Civic Society presented the team behind ‘The Tour Addingham 2014’ with a Civic Pride award at its autumn fair.

The Society said that the celebrations were a hugely successful two days and the crowds were ‘amazing’ as they gathered to watch 200 of the best cyclists in the world come up Main Street. The award was presented by Kris Hopkins MP who said: “While Addingham was thrilled to be given the opportunity to host the Tour on successive days, the downside was that this required double the amount of work.

“But the Addingham Tour Committee, with the full backing of local residents, rolled their sleeves up and delivered not only for the village but for Yorkshire. As the local MP, I was hugely proud of what was achieved, and it was an honour to present a well-deserved Civic Pride award to Richard and the Addingham Tour Committee. Their contribution shall never be forgotten.”
