STEETON Male Voice Choir has celebrated its musical director's 20th anniversary in the key role, as it prepares for a concert in Ilkley next month.

Monday August 18 marked the 20th anniversary of Alan Clark as musical director of the choir and throughout the years he has brought Steeton Male Voice Choir to a very high standard of male voice choral singing.

The proof of this is the many requests that the choir receives to perform concerts in this country and abroad.

The next concert at Woodlands Methodist Church, Harrogate will be his 577th conducting the choir.

His wife, Christine Clark, also heads up the ladies group, and this year have six concerts to provide meals or refreshments for visiting choirs.

Mr Clark is only the fourth musical director the choir has had since its founding in 1908. He works tirelessly for the choir and many of our favourite pieces are songs that he has arranged or adapted himself.

Flugelhorn and trumpet player, Charles Tomlinson, will be the soloist for the concert at Woodlands Methodist Church on August 30. the concert begins at 7.30pm.

Steeton are hosting Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir in a joint concert at All Saints Church, Ilkley, on Saturday September 13, starting at 7p.

Tickets cost £8 and are available from tickets@steetonmvc.co.uk or by calling (01274) 598221.
