GUIDED tours giving a historic insight into a former Otley policeman's life will be held at Otley Courthouse next month.

The free events will be held between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, September 13 as part of the venue's Heritage Open Days celebrations.

Visitors will find out about the life and times of Superintendent Warburton and his family during the First World War, and also be able to view the new Courthouse Timeline in the cell corridor.

Art Stars, meanwhile, the creative art programme for children aged six to 11, will restart on Saturday, September 6. The 10am to noon class costs £5 per child.

September's movie matinee is Le Weekend, starring Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan.

The film, the story of a British couple returning to Paris decades after their honeymoon in an attempt to rejuvenate their marriage, will be shown at 2pm on Thursday, September 11. Tea and coffee will be available beforehand, from 1.30pm.

First up, though, will be the Courthouse's next Designer Craft Fair on Sunday, August 31, from 9.30am to 1pm. The monthly, free to enter, event features a variety of stalls displaying crafts created by the stall holders.

Tickets for forthcoming events can be booked at otleycourthouse.org.uk , by calling (01943) 467466, or by visiting the venue on Courthouse Street.
