AN ANIMAL charity is trying to trace the owner of an injured cat that was discovered near Otley bypass.

The female, tortoiseshell and white, cat was discovered in a garden in the Westbourne Close area last week - in pain and unable to walk.

She is currently being cared for by a local vet and may need a hip operation, so the Wharfe Valley branch of Cats Protection is keen to find her owner as soon as possible.

Volunteer Sylvia Hoult said: "She is sweet natured, looks well looked after, and is wearing a nice collar - but sadly there's no microchip.

"She looks as though she could have been hit by a vehicle a few days prior to being found, and is so bruised with lots of grazes, but she should make a full recovery.

"Is she your cat, or do you recognise her from your street or have seen her around?

"Her owners could be on holiday and have no idea she is missing so any information could be useful in helping to reunite them."

Anybody with information that could help is asked to call 0845 1947 292, and choose extension 4.
