Businesswomen donned hats and gathered on Ilkley Moor last week to raise awareness about brain tumours.

The group of Yorkshire ladies dressed up for the occasion as part of Wear a Hat Day, a campaign run by Brain Tumour Research.

About 20 female business owners and their supporters took part, meeting up by a misty Cow and Calf Rocks.

The event was led by Tina Boden, micro business specialist and independent business ambassador, with support from Beth Hughes, of By Betty Hats, Burley-in-Wharfedale, and Rhian Kempadoo-Millar, of Kempadoo Flatcaps, Leeds.

She is also a trustee of Ellie’s Fund – Brain Tumour Trust.

Some of those who took part in the event wore clothes from Attic Womenswear, of Ilkley, and the event was photographed by Mya Fawcett, of Silvery Moon Photography, whose daughter is a brain tumour survivor.

Brain tumours are said to be the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s.

Brain Tumour Research is a national charity established in 2008.
