Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at the Sainsbury’s in Yeadon.

Two men, armed with a knife and a baseball bat, went into the store in Queensway and threatened three male members of staff before stealing cash from the tills along with cigarettes and alcohol.

The raiders ran on to Shaw Leys where some of the stolen goods were later recovered.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident at 11pm on Wednesday, March 5.

Detectives say although the men had their faces covered they were wearing distinctive clothing.

One was wearing a brown hooded coat with black shoulders and toggles on the front. He also wore dark blue jeans and striped Adidas trainers.

The other man was in a purple hooded top and grey or black jeans.

Anyone who saw the men in the area or who has any information that could help the investigation is asked to contact Detective Constable Rob Miller at Weetwood Police Station via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Meanwhile, police have released e-fits of two men they want to speak to after an attempted burglary in Rawdon.

The men were seen acting suspiciously around the time of the attempted break-in at Micklefield Lane on Monday, March 24.

Officers say two people tried to break into the property through the conservatory doors at about 5.40pm but were unable to get in.

Detective Constable Sam Warburton said: “Two men were seen in the area acting suspiciously around the time of the incident and we have released e-fits of these individuals.

“We would like to hear from these men or anyone who recognises them. One of the men is believed to have been carrying a rucksack and passers-by may have remembered seeing them.

“I would call on anyone with information and who could assist in this inquiry to come forward on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.”
