An Ilkley-based independent store is hoping to add to its growing trophy cabinet after being shortlisted for a national accolade.

Nora’s Interiors and Gifts will go head to head with national brands at an awards ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on Thursday, May 8.

The shop is in the running in the ‘Best Retail Display’ category at The Greats gift retailers awards, organised by Progressive Gifts & Home to recognise and reward the UK's very best gift retailers across the retail spectrum.

Business owner Victoria Newhouse said: “Our shop window is incredibly important to the success of our business.

“We change it at least once a month and always aim to reflect the seasons, local events and use it to demonstrate our support for the local community.

“A shop window is so much more than a display area, it’s a window into our values, our locally sourced products and our passions.

“Our submission had examples of some of our most inspired displays including Christmas, Valentine’s and last year’s Ilkley Carnival and clearly we struck a chord with the experts.

“We're thrilled to have reached the finals for the second year running.

“We feel we’re banging the drum for Ilkley’s independent retail community and hope to bring a national retail title home to our town once again.”

Victoria and her business partner and mother, Fiona, opened the shop on South Hawksworth Street in May 2010, specialising in bespoke gifts and interior accessories.

No stranger to retail and business awards, the business was winner of Independent Gift Retailer of the Year (North and Northern Ireland) in the 2013 event, winner of the Ilkley Carnival Shop Window Display competition in 2012 and awarded “New Business of the Year” in the 2011 Bradford Means Business Awards.
