A missing dog by the name of Sherlock has triggered a desperate search and internet campaign after he ran off late last week.

The Tibetan terrier cross is a rescue dog, flown in from Cyprus last Thursday by the family of Ben Rhydding resident, Rachel Warren.

But when she took the dog out in the garden at 6.30am on Friday, he managed to slip his collar, and ran off.

He is thought to crossed stepping stones over the River Wharfe, and was seen at about 11am on Sunday, near Carters Lane, north of the river. He was spotted again in a garden in Carters Lane at about 5pm, and may have been seen since that time in Denton.

Sherlock came from a rescue centre in Cyprus and had only been with his new family for 12 hours before he slipped his collar and vanished.

Word has been spread via social networking website, Facebook, and there is a reward offered for his safe return.
