The latest Ilkley recruit to join Steeton Male Voice Choir will have his debut choir performance at All Saints Church this week.

Paul Duff is the 14th chorister from the Ilkley area to join the Steeton choir. He was recently given his official red jacket – the choir’s uniform – by the choir’s recruiting officer, Ken Wardell, also an Ilkley resident.

The first concert Mr Duff will perform in will be at All Saints Parish Church in Ilkley on Saturday, March 22. The concert begins at 7.30pm.

Steeton Male Voice Choir will be joined at the concert by Arias Aren’t Us.

The highly entertaining duo, Nick Foster and John Dekker, will be accompanied by Keith Thompson.

All three were long-serving members of Eldwick & Gilstead Male Voice Choir and some years ago they decided to team up to perform some of the humorous compositions by such as Flanders and Swann, Richard Stilgoe and Peter Skellern.

This is their first appearance with Steeton Male Voice Choir.

The choir is continuing to grow, now with more than 80 members, and not a month goes by without a new member passing his voice test.

This enables the choir to stage around 60 men at a concert, taking into consideration holidays and sickness.

Tickets cost £8 from Ilkley Visitor Information Centre, Ilkley Town Hall, or e-mail tickets@ or call (01274) 598221.
