Residents who park on grass verges in Ilkley are not helping the appearance of the area, says a ward councillor.
Bradford District councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) says keeping Ilkley special is becoming increasingly difficult because of limited funding.
But she says residents themselves are not helping, particularly with careless parking around primary schools. She made a plea for drivers to have some regard to where they park when on the school run.
“Ilkley is a wonderful green space, “leafy” is one description,” said Coun Hawkesworth. However, I am more conscious of the damage being done by motorists with careless parking on grass verges.
“Great huge muddy gouged-out areas are being produced near to the homes of residents who have up to now taken care of and even personally mowed.”
