‘Here’s to future success’ as refurbished pub opened by Ilkley MP

The MP visited the Robin Hood, on Kirkgate, to celebrate its re-opening following a major investment by leaseholders Darren and Sue Robinson, in partnership with Punch Taverns.

The Punch Taverns pub, which was closed for four weeks whilst a refurbishment took place, re-opened on February 7.

Licensees Darren and Sue took Mr Hopkins on a tour of the premises and then invited him behind the bar to pull a pint.

Mr Hopkins said: “I am very pleased to visit the Robin Hood and see the transformation at first-hand. It is good to see that the pub in such a picturesque town as Silsden has retained its original features and kept the links with the local community with its ‘wall of fame’.

“It has a loyal following in the community and there was an excellent turn-out.

“I wish Sue and Darren all the very best in their impressively- refurbished premises.”

Sue was delighted with the pub’s positive start and Mr Hopkins’ visit to the pub: “It’s great to see a local MP supporting the pub industry, especially as there has been such pressure on the sector in recent years,” she said.

“The launch was really busy and the new look has been well-received. The new food menu is proving really popular, especially the beef and Tetleys stew with dumplings and chicken, bacon and cider pie made with Stowford Press Cider. Customers like the fact that it is all home-made and good value.

“The pub forms an important part of our local community and I know the Robin Hood was missed while it was out of action. It is great to open the doors and welcome customers old and new.”
