As part of the Otley Word Feast 2014 there will be a packed programme of events, on Saturday, March 29, from 2pm to 4pm at Otley Courthouse.
There will be a free Youth Poetry Slam for young people aged 12-18, in association with Prince Henry’s Grammar School.
This innovative event will be compered by Zodwa Nyoni, playwright and poet in residence at Ilkley Literature Festival 2013.
Preparations for poetry-slamming began with a showing of Leeds Young Authors’ critically-acclaimed film We Are Poets and students at the school will have a slam workshop with James Nash on Tuesday.
Entrants will have three minutes in which to impress the judges and the chance to win cash prizes.
To enter, e-mail slam @otleywordfeast.org.uk and for more information about all the free events for children and young people, including a creative writing workshop for ages 12-16 with Martyn Bedford and activities in Otley Library, check otleywordfeast.org.uk or pick up a programme around town.
Otley Word Feast is supported by Otley Town Council, Leeds Council, Leeds Inspired, The Co-operative Community Fund, Otley Library, Otley Courthouse and local businesses.
