The past 18 months have seen amateur theatre groups up and down the country staging the heart- warming play, Calendar Girls, about the Yorkshire WI ladies who stripped off to create a calendar raising funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

The performing rights licence expires at the end of this month, but there is still one last chance to see this moving and funny play, as it will be performed by Burley Theatre Group on February 26, 27 and 28.

The play’s humour contrasts and lightens its inevitable sadness, with some superb one-liners that demand perfection of comic timing.

The Calendar Girls in Burley-in-Wharfedale may not be creating news as the first group to strip for a charity calendar, but they are ordinary women from Yorkshire, who are prepared to take their clothes off in public to help fight the silent disease that cancer is.

Calendar Girls will be performed at The Queen’s Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale, starting each night at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available online at burleytheatre.org.uk, or by phone on (01943) 863478.
