Shoppers and carol singers have helped raise more than £2,000 for an arthritis charity.

During 2013, the Otley branch of Arthritis Research UK raised a total of £2,088, with collections at Morrisons in Guiseley and Yeadon, Asda and Waitrose in Otley and Tesco and Booths in Ilkley. Branch chairwoman Elizabeth Hoyle said: “The group wishes to thank all those who help with the collections and generous customers for supporting this very worthy cause.

“In addition, just before Christmas, a group from Guiseley Methodist Church and Horsforth Churches sang carols at Leeds-Bradford Airport, raising £87.50 for Arthritis Research. We thank all staff and travellers who supported us.

“Arthritis comes in many forms and can affect people of all ages.

“Arthritis Research UK funds all the research into finding new ways of diagnosis and treatment. Many projects are based at the excellent Musculoskeletal Research Unit in Leeds.”
