Volunteers put on a blooming good show when they turned out to do some planting in Rawdon.
Despite the wind and rain, they did their bit by planting on the grassed area between Over Lane and Larkfield Road.
They came forward to help with the planting session following an appeal in December by Rawdon parish councillor Phil Gomersall.
He said: “It was an exceptionally windy morning with sharp rain showers but this didn’t deter the volunteers. Eight large bags of daffodils and a fair number of crocus bulbs were planted around the perimeter of the area.
“Despite being planted late, with a bit of luck, they should enhance this formerly plain area of grass this spring.”
All of the volunteers at the planting put their names forward to be part of the new Rawdon in Bloom.
It is now proposed to create a more elaborate planted area at the junction and to decorate Rawdon’s two main shopping areas with hanging baskets.
Anyone who wants to help, or any local businesses wanting to sponsor a hanging basket or any other planting in Rawdon should contact Coun Gomersall at phil.gomersall@rawdonparishcouncil.gov. uk or on 07527 484545.
