An MP is calling on any Wharfedale and Aireborough residents who had pensions with Equitable Life to make sure they claim the compensation they deserve.

The Equitable Life Payments Scheme was set up by the Government in 2011 to pay up to £1.5 billion to victims of the Equitable Life scandal.

Some £600 million has already been paid out but many people, after moving without giving their new address, are unaware of their entitlement.

Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) is urging anybody in the consituency, where there are potentially more than 400 people – and up to 200,000 nationally – who have still not claimed, to do so before the compensation scheme ends in 2015.

Anyone who believes they have an eligible policy but has not yet heard about receiving compensation can find out more by calling the ‘policychecker’ service on 0300 0200 150 or writing to Equitable Life Payment Scheme, PO Box 4110, Glasgow G58 1EL, quoting their full name, address and policy number.
