Scouts got an insight into life as a pilot when they got behind the controls of a 737 aircraft.

The 21 youngsters from the 1st Burley-in-Wharfedale Scout Group looked round the cockpit when they were given a special tour of Jet2’s hangar at Leeds-Bradford Airport.

The cubs also learned about the work of engineers during the visit which was arranged to help them earn their Air Activities Badge.

Marcus Mountcastle, base engineer at Jet2.com, who set up the visit, said: “The cubs had to visit an airfield, air display or air museum to earn their badge, so obviously we were more than happy to help them fulfil one of the key requirements.

“The boys were extremely well behaved and seemed to thoroughly enjoy their visit. Everyone involved here at Jet2.com was pleased to support them tick another task of their list, and it also brought back a few fond memories of being in the cubs and scouts ourselves.”
