Father Christmas will be spending some time in his grotto at Christchurch on The Grove today, tomorrow and on Saturday.

He will call in at the Ilkley church between 3.15pm and 5pm today and tomorrow, and between 10am and noon on Saturday, to hear any last-minute Christmas requests from youngsters.

Entry to the grotto is free.

Visitors also have a chance to see a variety of Christmas trees decorated by different groups in the group, based on the theme of verses from Luke’s gospel in the Bible.

The mums and toddlers group has decorated a tree like a baby shower, with rattles and bibs, and that is situated in the Worship Area upstairs. There is a mobile phone Christmas tree designed by the youth group which shows the messages of Christmas.

Christchurch’s family-friendly carol service is at 9am on Sunday followed by a more traditional service of carols and readings in the evening at 6.30pm.

On Monday there is a free showing of the film Miracle on 34th Street in the Lower Hall from 10am.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and visitors can bring their own refreshments.

The popular Christingle service takes place at 4pm on Christmas Eve followed by the midnight service at 11.30pm. All are welcome to celebrate Christmas Day at 10am.
