An Aireborough park is to have a £118,000 facelift, with new play equipment and a multi-use games area.
The money is being spent on Kirk Lane Park in Yeadon, which, in conjunction with neighbouring Nunroyd Park, makes up one of the largest areas of public space in Leeds.
The park’s unused tennis courts will be transformed into the multi-use game area, with new surfacing and a retractable metal tennis net.
The children’s equipment will be removed and replaced with six new fixed play pieces, new benches, bins and a self-closing gate.
The plans have been welcomed by councillors from Guiseley and Rawdon.
Councillor Pat Latty said: “It is important that we provide our young people with spaces where they can have fun and enjoy themselves in safety.
“These improvements will ensure Kirk Lane Park offers local children the space they need to play with their friends in a safe environment.”
Councillor Paul Wadsworth added: “This scheme will ensure the facilities in Kirk Lane Park meet the needs of our young people for many years to come.
“The park is a valuable public space and this work will only enhance that.”
