The Donkey Sanctuary’s assisted therapy centre in Eccup is hoping to wow visitors with its Winter Wonderland this weekend.

The centre will be packed with festive attractions – including sleigh rides to Santa’s grotto – between 10am and 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Adult visitors will also be able to browse a variety of seasonal stalls, take part in a raffle and try out some of the the Yuletide refreshments on offer.

There will also be a chance for guests to meet the centre’s donkeys and adopt one for £24 a year as a Christmas gift to the charity.

Centre manager Cathryn Williams said: “We absolutely love sharing the festive spirit with our visitors and supporters and would like to welcome lots of friends, old and new, to meet our resident donkeys at our fantastic Winter Wonderland.

“The funds that we raise at this event will help us to provide donkey-assisted therapy to children with additional needs and disabilities throughout the Leeds area.”

Admission is free, while visits to Santa’s grotto, which includes a sleigh ride plus gift, costs £5 per child. The Donkey Sanctuary’s Leeds centre provides donkey riding and assisted therapy to 190 local children with special needs from Leeds and the surrounding area every week.

Services are provided free of charge. The centre does not receive any Government funding.
