Ward councillors hope new signs will persuade more dog owners to clean up after their pets in Addingham.

District councillors have provided cash to buy signs urging people to clean up after their pets while out walking in locations such as Addingham.

Ward councillors Andrew Mallinson and Michael Kelly have allocated the necessary cash from their ward action plan budget.

The eye-catching new signs will be placed on bus stops and walls in areas that are particularly prone to dog fouling. They will be periodically moved in order to ensure they are always sited where the problem is at its worst.

Councillor Mallinson said: “This continues on from our earlier ‘bag it, tie it, bin it’ campaign, which we ran a couple of years ago. That went extremely well and local school pupils got involved with raising awareness.

“This is a nasty and disgusting habit. Hopefully these signs will remind people of their duties.”
