Ilkley resident Wendy is now helping elderly

A former textile technologist has become the new co-ordinator of an Ilkley scheme which provides help for older and infirm residents do their weekly shop.
Ilkley resident Wendy Cubie, who recently retired from her career as a textile technologist, has taken on the role of co-ordinator for Ilkley and District Good Neighbours’ Shop Assist scheme.
She said: “If you are, or anyone you know is, having difficulty shopping please do get in touch.
“Our dedicated team of volunteers is here to help, whether on a regular basis or just while you get back on your feet after an illness or a stay in hospital.
“Looking ahead, our emergency shopping team can spring into action if you can't get out because of bad weather. I am in the office on Tuesday mornings but a message can be left for me anytime on 01943 603348 or by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.”
Ilkley and District Good Neighbours said they were delighted their new co-ordinator brings with her excellent administrative skills, in addition to tried-and-tested adminis-trative skills.
The Shop Assist scheme was set up in 2009.
