Ilkley's MP backs plan to extended GP access
10:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
Government plans to extend patient access to GP surgeries from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, have been backed by Ilkley MP Kris Hopkins, who said the initiative was necessary to relieve pressures on accident and emergency departments.
Mr Hopkins said: “I think these are sensible and, indeed, necessary proposals to enable more people to access professional medical care without the need to visit their local hospital. “Under the pilot project, patients will also be given the chance to speak to their GP by phone or via Skype, or send them an e-mail.
“I believe it is right to try all the options available to ensure that the final scheme is the best it can possibly be.”
