Yorkshire Building Society celebrated opening a new branch in Yeadon by donating £100 to each of five charities.
The branch invited residents to nominate a charity they would like to see receive £100 as part of the society’s Make a Difference Week.
Donations were made to Yeadon Charities Association, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, AVSED, Safe Haven and Martin House hospice The branch, in Yeadon High Street, was officially opened last Friday by the Yorkshire’s chief executive Chris Pilling and Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West. Mr Mulholland said: “Building societies are hugely important to a community. They are mutual businesses, owned by customers not shareholders. I am happy to see Yorkshire Building Society is committed to building a relationship with its customers.”
Mr Pilling added: “We’re proud to be opening new branches at a time when many institutions have been closing theirs.”
Hayley Pickersgill, branch manager at Yeadon said: “We’ve had a brilliant first week in Yeadon and the team enjoyed getting to know lots of new faces. Make a Difference Week was a great opportunity for our community to tell us which causes are important to them and it is fantastic we were able to support them.”
