An insight into Ilkley town centre manager’s role
1:56pm Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
Ilkley councillors this week heard Skipton town centre manager Brett Butler talk about his work.
Members of Ilkley Parish Council are looking into the possibility of having a town centre manager for Ilkley, and looking at roles performed by managers in other towns.
Councillors want to know more about the work done by town centre managers in other areas, as well as factors such as funding for the role.
They recently agreed to draw up a list of organisations and individuals they could contact for more information about the role.
Councillor Stephen Butler recently spoke to Mr Butler about attending a meeting of Ilkley Parish Council as part of the fact-finding exercise.
Mr Butler gave an outline of the work he does promoting Skipton, business improvement, organising events, and co-ordinating events run by other organisations over issues such as traffic management.
He told how the role was originally part-funded by Craven District Council, but is now paid for by Skipton Town Council. Mr Butler said he worked 37 hours a week, and is supportive by a small administrative team.
