New Ilkley Grammary School pupils get in on the action for team day
New Ilkley Grammar School Year 7 students enjoyed team-building, activities at an outdoor pursuits centre as part of their induction programme.
Over three days in September, all of the year group enjoyed their annual visit to the Nell Bank Centre, Denton Road, Ilkley.
Nell Bank is an opportunity for students to get to know each other better and take part in problem-solving exercises.
Each band, I, G and S, spent a full day at the adventure centre. The whole year group rose to the challenges set, despite some inclement weather for G band. The aim of the day was for students to develop new friendships with others from different feeder schools.
Students skied down slopes in pairs, navigated their way around the centre blind folded, got extremely wet in the water challenge and completed the famous obstacle course with bread and chicken.
One of the students, Louis Fielding, said: “It was a great chance to make new friends with people I didn’t know. I loved ducky – you had to fill tubes with water, but the tubes had holes in and we got very wet.”
Hannah Marshall also said: “I had a brilliant time, the activity I liked most was the one carrying a chicken and a loaf of bread. It was fun.”
