Life-saving defibrillator gifted to Ilkley Playhouse

Ilkley Round Table has donated a third potentially life-saving defibrillator for use in the local community, following the success of the first two.
The Round Table first gave a £1,000 defibrillator to the Clarke Foley Centre in Cunliffe Road in October last year – and it was put into urgent action just a day later to revive a man who collapsed at a wedding celebration.
The organisation, which raises tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes every year, then donated a defibrillator to Christchurch on The Grove.
And last week Ilkley Round Table chairman Richard Bradley visited Ilkley Playhouse in Weston Road in the town to present a third defibrillator for use in the community.
Heartstart Addingham, in conjunction with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, is now delivering training courses on the use of the machine, which delivers a controlled electric shock to restart the heart in the event of a heart attack, to Playhouse volunteers.
Tony Wade, of Ilkley Playhouse, thanked the Round Table for the defibrillator and stressed it was for the whole community to use, not just those attending the Playhouse.
