Ilkley barn dance to celebrate harvest
3:00pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
The Harvest celebrations at Christchurch, Ilkley will include a barn dance on Saturday.
It will be held in the worship area because roof repairs over the Riddings Hall mean the hall is unavailable. The chairs will be moved out of the way to make a large space for dancing. The dance starts at 5pm with gentle dances for all ages, followed by a traditional harvest supper at 6pm. Then there will be faster dancing led by the Morgan Rattler Band, a ceilidh band based in the north of England.
Tickets are £8 a head with £4 for children and under five free. Tickets available in the coffee centre or from the Church office.
Minister Rev Rob Hilton said: “We need to rediscover that joy and celebration with the Lord at times like Harvest, and a Ceilidh seemed a good way to do it. Dancing in church will give it an extra special meaning this year while roof repairs are done to the Riddings Hall roof. Anyone for a basket?”
