The run-up to Red Nose Day 2013 has begun in earnest in Otley.

Town mayor Councillor Mary Vickers joined local schoolchildren at the town's Sainsbury's store last Friday to launch the start of this year's fundraiser.

Coun Vickers, along with pupils and staff from All Saints C of E Primary School and Sainsbury's employees, donned a red nose and had a go at 'chopstick maltesers'.

She said: "I'm delighted to support Sainsbury's with their launch of Red Nose Day, which raises a lot of money for good causes."

All Saints headteacher Ian Thomson-Smith said: "We always do something to mark Red Nose Day and this time, on Friday, March 15, we'll be having a creative day. We won't be doing normal lessons but instead exciting things for charity, and we have a few surprises lined up - the children don't know what we're doing yet!"
