Otley Courthouse opens for 'double-sided' art

Bono is coming to Otley this weekend – but it's art rather than U2 fans who should be getting excited.

The Bono Art Gallery, on Courthouse Street, will officially open at 5pm on Saturday, February 9.

The gallery will feature the abstract works of Sicilian-born artist Roberto Bono, who has lived in Otley for the past seven years.

Roberto's work is double-sided, so each piece can be turned around to display a different painting – and he has also used those paintings to create shifting panes, set to music.

He describes the gallery as “a new meeting hall, a white space with strange musical windows inside, right at the centre of the community where friends, visitors, observers, painters and other musicians can interact”.
