The Royal Society of Arts has elected a Menston assistant head teacher as a Fellow.
David Geldart, of St Mary’s Catholic High School, has been named as a Fellow after his significant achievements and contributions have been noted.
Mr Geldart, who is also director of physical education and sport at the school, is widely regarded as having made a unique and significant contribution to the development of physical education and sport in this country, He has gained national and international acclaim for his strategic and practical work in education and sport.
Mr Geldart said: “It is a tremendous honour and privilege to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn from, and work with, other Fellows who have similar interests.”
Six years ago he founded the Bambisanani Partnership in South Africa which uses sport as a catalyst for promoting education, health, global citizenship and leadership. The project has been referred to as inspirational by the British Council.
