The Guard to be shown at Ilkley Playhouse

Ilkley Film Society's next presentation, on Sunday at Ilkley Playhouse, is the Irish comedy crime thriller The Guard.

Brendan Gleason stars as a highly unorthodox small-town cop in Connemara, who finds himself teamed with a very strait-laced FBI agent to take on international drug smugglers - a far cry from the kind of petty criminals he is used to dealing with. The film won the Evening Standard British Film Award for best comedy, as well as four prizes at international festivals.

The film will be shown at 8pm in a high-definition Blu-ray presentation.

Tickets for those who are not members of the Film Society are £4 (students £2), and can be reserved by phoning Richard Fort on 01535 653471.
