An Otley opticians got into the festive spirit this week as staff continued their support for the town mayor's charities.

Specsavers, on Kirkgate, has been raising money for Councillor Mary Vickers' charities since November, when they put a crib in the window for the Victorian Fayre.

The fundraising was stepped-up this week, when cakes, sweets and tinsel were added to encourage customers to donate money and staff dressed up as reindeer, angels and other Christmas characters.

Proceeds from the town mayor's charities will go to the breast cancer unit at Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Hospital's cleft palate unit and the Sylvia Wright Trust.
