Burley and Woodhead Primary School is showing their support to beat bullying as it joins a national campaign.

Anti-Bullying Week starts on Monday and aims to raise awareness of the bullying of children and young people, also highlighting ways to respond to it.

The school has launched a logo competition using the strapline ‘It’s cool to be kind’, giving all Key Stage Two pupils the opportunity to create their own design, which will form part of the school’s identity.

School governor, Tina Pardoe, said: “At Burley and Woodhead, we recognise how lucky we are to have a school with a genuinely warm, friendly atmosphere, where children look out for each other.

“However, we are all human, and sometimes it’s all too easy to allow jokes and fun to get out of hand, leaving children’s feelings hurt.

“So we’re using national Anti-Bullying Week to take some time to celebrate the great environment we have at school, as well as remembering just how important it is to be kind to each other.”

The winning logo will then be art-worked by a professional designer free of charge. The winner will be announced in an assembly at some point during the week-long national campaign, and will feature on the school’s website and other key communication pieces.
