Guiseley art club's autumn exhibition is a success
2:21pm Friday 2nd November 2012 in News By Annette McIntyre
Colourful creations went on show at Guiseley Art Club’s 12th annual autumn exhibition.
Members displayed about 100 paintings in a wide range of media, including watercolour, acrylics and pastels.
The free exhibition took place at Guiseley Methodist Church during the weekend, with quite a few works sold on both days.
Joint exhibition co-ordinator, Bryan Minter, said about half of the club’s 40 to 50 members put their work on display.
He said: “In this present climate, it is always difficult, but I have to say it was a success.”
The event featured a café and a tombola, and part of the money raised will go to charity.
The club meets at the church hall from 1.30pm to 4pm on Mondays. New members are welcome.
The club was formed 12 years ago when its instigator, Joan Hobson, put out feelers to see if anyone was interested in forming a group in Guiseley. After putting up flyers, she was inundated with calls, and the club has been going strong ever since.
