Witness appeal after cyclist seriously injured at Embsay

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist in his 60s was seriously injured in a collision with a van at Embsay.

The 65-year old local man was taken to Airedale General Hospital following the incident, which also involved a silver Renault van, in Skipton Road at about 12.15pm last Thursday.

Skipton Police are particularly trying to contact the driver of a small blue Mercedes car.

Traffic Constable Dave Clayton, of Skipton Road Policing Group, said: “The Mercedes had nothing to do with the collision, but having passed the cyclist just prior to the incident, the driver may be a vital witness.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision itself, or saw the cyclist or the van prior to the incident, to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Call 101, select option two and ask to speak to Dave Clayton quoting reference number 12120180195.
