Ilkley branch members of The Royal British Legion have launched this year’s local Poppy Appeal.

More than £9,000 was collected in the town last year, with a further £2,000 donated in Menston.

Co-ordinator Margaret Hunter said about 65 outlets around the town are selling poppies, including local business, schools and clubs.

RBL Ilkley branch president, Susan Windle, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Margaret Hunter for all her hard work.”

The group is appealing for future volunteers and members. Call (01943) 608278 or 07726 600689 for further information.
