12:00pm Monday 29th October 2012 in News
Memories of an Ilkley cafe, a Burley Woodhead pub and the assembly of Lancaster bombers in Yeadon will all feature in a new book about the Second World War.
Yorkshire at War is the 100th book by historian Ron Freethy, and describes what life was like for people in the county during the conflict.
The book is described as a “compelling narrative, with eyewitness accounts from people who lived through those momentous times”.
As well as a raft of images, the book also features a wide range of subjects, including rationing, Land Army girls, the Home Guard, VE Day and VJ Day and National Service.
Yorkshire at War is published by Dalesman Books and priced £9.99 or £12.99 for a hardback copy.
