A Wharfedale MP is calling on residents to get involved in and support British Pub Week 2012.

The promotion runs from tomorrow until November 4 and is intended to celebrate the roles inns play in the communities they serve.

MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West), who chairs the Parliamentary Save the Pub Group, said: “British Pub Week is a fantastic opportunity to bring to the public’s attention the importance of pubs to local communities, providing a community haven where friends can gather to socialise and safely enjoy a drink.

“I would call on people to show their support for our national institution by dropping into a pub during the week.”

Landlord of the New Inn at Yeadon, Carl Sutcliffe, added: “Pubs mean a lot to local communities.

“Our pub is somewhere to meet friends, hold community events, come along to a quiz, grab a bite to eat and so much more.”
