Horsforth Cricket Club won the Third Teams Ian Chappell Cup for the first time when they defeated Burley in a thrilling game at Otley on Monday.

Burley had looked likely winners after an opening stand of 92 but they lost their way and crumbled to 147 all out in reply to Horsforth's 175.

For Horsforth, Andrew Robinson made 26 and took three for 38 off his ten overs.

Matthew Wainwright (42) and Duncan Childs (31) made major contributions to the Horsforth score.

Burley were creaming the bowling to all corners with their young openers Mark Cooper (48) and Dan Bryan (46) in full flow.

They put on 90 off 14 overs but then a couple of wickets changed the complexion of the game and it was all downhill for Burley after that with Horsforth skipper Richard Graves picking up a couple of wickets and Ben Wainwright taking two for six off his five overs.

Horsforth then celebrated with Tom Lewis taking a fine catch to take the last wicket.

The trophy was presented to Richard Graves and the man of the match award to Andrew Robinson.
