Ilkley Harriers in variety of events
FIVE Ilkley Harriers competed in the Wakefield Hospice 10k and a special mention should go to David Cummings, who was taking part in his first ever road race.
Not only was he still smiling by the end but he managed on his debut to break the magic 40 minute marker, a very impressive run in these conditions.
Sarah Jarvis was first Harrier home and continues to go from strength to strength with yet another PB by nearly a minute, achieving a fourth place in a high quality ladies' race. She finished 62nd overall in 37.53.
Other Harrier placings were: 116, Neil Chapman 39.52; 119, David Cummings 39.53 (PB); 236, Simon Chapman 42.54; 301, Nick Errington 44.47.
In the Edale Skyline Fell Race, over 21 miles with 4800ft of climbing, Brian Melia finished 79th in 3.48.24 with Morgan Williams 100th in 3.58.24 and Dan Goodey 129th in 4.08.09.
In the Stokesley Duathlon, James Hutchinson completed in 1hr 46 mins.
In the Arkendale 10k, a mixed terrain race, there were 320 runners and it was won by Tim Midgely of Bingley Harriers in 34.42. Ilkley Harrier Jeff Paget was 13th and second Vet 50 in 39.31.
