THE regular monthly Ilkley Soul Club Northern Soul & Motown show rolled into Ilkley once more on Sunday, April 29.

It was another well attended event with over 80 people joining the crowd from Addingham, Bradford, Blackburn, Burnley, Clitheroe, Ilkley, Keighley, Leeds and Skipton for an afternoon of really exceptional soul music.

Guesting this month were Graeme and Karen Bickerton, who were the guest DJs back at the opening event in September. They were both very impressed at how Ilkley Soul Club had developed and increased in popularity over the last seven months. They both played a selection of great tracks, as did all the five DJs during the afternoon.

They all kept the dancefloor full for most of the five hours for which the show runs. Once more people started arriving early before the opening time and so the music began at 2.30pm, half an hour before the start!

Barry Innocenti and Ian Smith, the organisers of Ilkley Soul Club, both commented on how pleased they were to be getting widespread support for their popular events, with people not only coming regularly every month, but also lots of new faces turning up each time.

The popularity of Northern Soul & Motown music never seems to falter and in fact it’s still continuing to increase month-on-month.

Ilkley Soul Club's next event is on Bank Holiday weekend Sunday, May 27, when the guests then will be John Parker from The Wardrobe in Leeds, and Chorley's Northern Noise duo Garry Place and Shaun Callon.

It promises to be another outstanding afternoon!
