THE LORD Mayor of Leeds will be a special guest at Otley Chamber Orchestra's tenth Spring Concert.

Councillor Jane Dowson and her Consort, Alan Bellhouse - a horn player and one of the orchestra's founding members - will attend the event at Otley Methodist Church's Wesley Hall on Sunday, May 20.

Starting at 7.30pm, the show will includes Beethoven’s dramatic 3rd Symphony - the Eroica, the Academic Festival Overture by Brahms, Benjamin Britten’s orchestral suite Soirées Musicales, and Springtime in Angus by Eric Coates.

Conducted by Chris Pelly, Otley Chamber Orchestra includes full wind and brass sections and has nearly 50 players from Otley and the surrounding area, with ages ranging from 16 to 80.

This concert will raise money for Otley Courthouse (the orchestra's rehearsal base), which raises more htan 90 per cent of its own income each year.

Orchestra Administrator Helen Thornton said: "We‘re really excited to be giving our tenth annual concert in the presence of the Lord Mayor and we invite everyone to come and share this celebratory evening."
