THE curtain has gone down on Harrogate St. Andrew's Player's (HSAP) most recent production of Rock of Ages, which ran at Harrogate Theatre in October.

HSAP are the lucky society who will be bringing the first ever production of the musical Hairspray to Harrogate Theatre in 2018. Hairspray became a global phenomenon when it hit Broadway in 2002, winning eight Tony Awards and was later made into the box office, hit starring John Travolta, in 2007. So, it is about time for its Harrogate debut!

Hairspray centres around Tracy Turnbald, a plump Baltimore girl, pursuing her dream of dancing on The Corney Collins Show. When, to everyone's amazement, she wins herself a place on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. Having found fame, Tracy encounters a colourful array of characters, leading to social change as she campaigns for the show’s integration.

The show requires a big cast and big crew. There are opportunities for anyone and everyone - behind the scenes or on the stage. HSAP would love to hear from anyone interested in taking part in what is set to be a brilliant production.

HSAP (Harrogate St Andrew’s players) are a well-established dramatic society which is known for the quality of its musical productions in the local area – with some of its members coming from as far as Huddersfield, Leeds, York and Wakefield to participate in productions – all keen to spend their spare time striving to produce shows that are as near 'professional standard' as possible. The society consists of a broad mix of ages and backgrounds, ranging from those who are keen on establishing a career in acting, to those who just want to have a lot of fun doing something a bit different!

Auditions will be taking place on Sunday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 7, 2018. For more information, to request an audition pack or just to learn a little more about the society, get in touch at info@hsap.co.uk.
