THE FOUNDING members of Nine Below Zero will perform an acoustic show in Otley in early 2018.

Dennis Greaves and Mark Feltham have gone back to their blues roots for a series of intimate concerts playing as a duo.

The pair will appear at Otley Courthouse on Friday, February 2 when covers of songs by blues legends like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo and Leadbelly will feature.

The show, which starts at 8pm, will also include unplugged versions of well-known Nine Below Zero material.

Named after a Sonny Boy Williamson song, Nine Below Zero emerged in 1979 when Dennis and Mark Feltham fused the energy of punk and high octane British blues.

Thirty eight years later, having established themselves as stalwarts of the UK music scene, they are still going strong.

Speaking of their acoustic duo sets, Dennis said: "With these shows we are really trying to get back to the stripped-down simplicity of early blues, played in its rawest form on acoustic instruments.

"It’s a little daunting for me to be playing acoustic guitar - no hiding behind the Marshall amp!"

The pair released their first album as a duo in April, 2015 and have toured extensively since.

Tickets for their Otley performance - doors open at 7.15pm - cost £12 and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the venue, on Courthouse Street.
